Since
1996, Betul has devoted most of her time to painting. Her bold
watercolors of
Aegean and Mediterranean landscapes have been exhibited in Ankara,
Antalya,
Fethiye and Istanbul. Her ambitious paintings of street scenes of
Istanbul and
the everyday mysticism of Peru have twice been exhibited in Istanbul.
The hidden
turnings of the old city of Ayvalik were the subject of her Last
Exhibition. The Forty Roses of Yesilkoy, her forthcoming exhibition, is a rare chance to see the third dimension in a familiar medium. Opening on December 14, 2004, at Galeri Oda (212-259-2208) in Tesvikiye, Istanbul, these remarkable paintings, drawn from the streets of her own town, show that the nature of roses spring from a reality that can always be found within. All
the paintings on this website are the result of her concentration on
vivid but
commonplace subjects. Some of the paintings can be bought by contacting
Betul. Prints of all the paintings are
also available.
